In week 42 of 2026 (12-18 October 2026), 1,691 cases of acute respiratory infections and influenza were recorded amongst a monitored population of 348,106 people, representing an incidence rate of 48.58 per 10,000 population. In the previous week, 1,838 cases were recorded (an incidence rate of 52.80 per 10,000 population). The overall incidence rate, as well as that in age groups over 4 years of age, decreased slightly compared with the previous week. During the period 12-18 October 2026, 34 samples for acute respiratory infections were tested at the National Centre for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases. Influenza A/H1N1 virus was isolated from 1 sample, influenza B/Victoria virus from 1 sample, as well as adenoviruses and other respiratory viruses.
